The "Adopt-a-Hydrant" program encourages volunteers to help keep fire hydrants clear, especially after a big snowstorm, in order to help firefighters quickly find and use the hydrant in an emergency. The program is open to individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations that want to ensure the safety of their neighborhoods.
This web-based application allows volunteers to view the fire hydrants on the map, easily locate the hydrants in a neighborhood or search by an address. Citizens can view the hydrants that are already adopted by others and select an available hydrant for adoption. They can also abandon a hydrant by a simple click of the mouse button.
PLEASE SHOVEL A THREE FOOT AREA AROUND YOUR ADOPTED HYDRANT WHEN IT SNOWS
