Adopt-a-Hydrant is a web-based application which allows citizens to take responsibility and clear hydrants in their neighborhoods during the winter season, making it easier to find hydrants during urgent fire-related events. Cooperation of community members is very helpful in lessening damages during winter fire hazards. Finding fire hydrants buried under snow and then clearing them entail a considerable amount of time, which can prove dangerous in terms of delays in extinguishing fires and saving life and property.
Please uncover your fire hydrant after each snowfall, clearing approximately three feet around it and a three feet wide path from the street leading up to it so that it can be spotted and accessed.
If you find any damage or leak in your adopted hydrant, please inform the fire service about it.
